Aloha! My name is Sunny Concepcion, and I’m of Hawaiian, Portuguese, Filipino, and Sioux descent. I was born and raised in Hawai‘i, with family roots in Kāne‘ohe and Liliha, and I’m a proud graduate of President William McKinley High School.
Growing up, I admired the local community center in my neighborhood and how it offered free programs that truly impacted the lives of local kids. Because of that experience, I’ve always dreamed of opening a nonprofit center to give back to the community and help children stay connected to their culture.
I’m a proud parent to two sons, both born on O‘ahu but raised on the mainland. When my younger son was 10 years old, he told me he wanted to “learn more about his culture,” which deeply inspired me to create a space where future generations could do just that.
I studied ʻŌlelo Hawai‘i at Kapi‘olani Community College and was proud to speak it fluently. After moving to Las Vegas in 2009, I realized how important it is to preserve our language and traditions. Through Mana O Ka Lāhui, my goal is to educate, inspire, and empower others to honor their roots and carry our culture forward.
